Urban Split

Traveling south to Dubronik, Jaap and I came to Split for one night. Split is one of the bigger cities along the Dalmatian coast and a nice change of pace from the quiet interior of Plitvice. Split is urban, young, alive, and full of history. Not to mention it was hot! Note the smoothies for lunch. Lekker!
The most interesting aspect of Split are the ruins of Diocletian's Palace, which is now apartments, restaurants, and just another part of the inner city. We spent the evening and following morning strolling Split, but mostly drinking cold drinks and taking cover from the hot sun. Jaap's northern Europe genes and my low tolerance for pain could not take the heat.
It was a nice stop en route to to the south. Split was nice, but I really couldn't wait to get to Dubrovnik!
